Ed Bauer began his journey into fitness in 1995, with encouragement from his father, a competitive power lifter. This is when he learned the importance of exercise on overall health. He became vegan one year later after learning about the inhumane practices that are involved in raising animals for food. Combining these two interests led to an understanding of plant-based nutrition and sports performance. In 2005, he got his first “fitness” job working at the front desk of a small gym. By experiencing success building muscle, awareness was spreading around him. It became clear that he could promote compassion and enlightenment through his success in this lifestyle. This has been his passion ever since. With over 7 years of personal training experience, and a bodybuilding first place finish under his belt, Ed has been training and competing under CrossFit principles since 2011. Ed now owns PlantFit Training Studio in Portland, OR. He trains multiple CrossFit Classes daily, does personal training, and offers nutritional counseling on how to lose fat, increase muscle, and obtain optimal health and wellness on a 100% vegan diet. Though he is well rounded as a CrossFit athlete, he especially enjoys Powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting, and Kettlebell training.
